The Lake Anna Threads apparel business was started in the winter of 2012 by entrepreneur and recent college graduate Brian Boenau. Brian was first introduced to the fun and beauty of the lake when he was about eight years old after visiting family friends at the lake with his parents and sister. His parents had first come to Lake Anna in the early 1980s to camp and sail their Sunfish in the waters near the state park.

Seeing how much their young children enjoyed all the water activities the lake had to offer, Brian’s parents decided to purchase property on the private side of the lake in the early 2000s, and Brian and his family began spending many weekends and school breaks at the lake. During his teen years, Brian perceived a growing market for Lake Anna-branded apparel and accessories. Still fresh out of college with a degree in communications and graphic design and sporting an entrepreneurial spirit, Brian decided to use his interest in business and skill in graphic design to create original designs for Lake Anna apparel and accessories. Thus, Lake Anna Threads was born.

Since Lake Anna Threads started in 2012, the company has steadily grown. Starting out with only word-of-mouth with advertising and t-shirts as the only products and services, Lake Anna Threads has branched out to selling a variety of products and offering much more. What the company offers now includes custom-designed clothing, products, and logos.

Brian’s idea was always to design and make high quality products that are made to last. “Whether my customers are vacationers or full-time residents, I want each customer to enjoy and feel comfortable in their Lake Anna wear and proudly represent Lake Anna,” Brian said. Today, Lake Anna Threads offers a wide range of Lake Anna products. “Designing top-quality, uniquely-designed t-shirts, sweatshirts, quarter zip jackets, caps, visors, mugs, and more, it is your place to go for Lake Anna resort wear,” he explained.

Where can you find clothing, accessories, and other Lake Anna Threads products? Go online to www.lakeannathreads.com or stop by the Lake Anna Welcome Center/Lake is Great Store near the 208 Bridge. During the summer months between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Lake Anna Threads also sells at the Mineral Farmer’s Market in downtown Mineral on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“I love selling at the Lake Anna Welcome Center and the Mineral Farmer’s Market because I get to see the satisfaction on customers’ faces when they pick up their new Lake Anna product,” Brian emphasized. “The most rewarding experiences are when I am around the lake and I see people wearing products I designed and when customers tell me how comfortable the clothing is and how much they love their new shirts. It doesn’t get any better than that!”
