Chiles Enterprises
Since 2002, Wesley Chiles has had a passion for servicing lawns and landscapes in Louisa County. Today, he is celebrating 15 years at the helm of his team at Chiles Enterprises Landscape, Tree & Turfcare.
Chiles and his team enter the 2017 season with seven company vehicles, a fleet of specialized landscape equipment, and hundreds of loyal customers in the Lake Anna region. He and his wife, Tabethia, are planning for a new shop and office in the Lake Anna area in the near future. “Growth is at the forefront of everything we do,” Chiles says. “Growing customer and vendor relationships, growing team members, and growing the outdoor experience for our customer: growth in quality, not quantity.”
The Chiles Team offers services of landscape and hardscape design, installation, and maintenance, a comprehensive sprayable lawn care program, tree and stump removal, drainage and erosion solutions, new lawn installations and existing lawn overhauls, and several other outdoor experiences.
Wesley Chiles was 10 years old when he produced his first business card and served his first customer. While a student at Louisa County High School, his business grew to add two zero turn mowers, a tractor, truck, trailer, and other equipment. He employed classmates and teachers who helped him build his experiences and reputation. Chiles went on to Virginia Tech where he earned a degree in Turfgrass and Landscape Management, all while continuing to grow his business in Louisa. Since graduation in 2012, he and his team have been featured in Landscape Management Magazine, Lawn and Landscape Magazine, The Daily Progress, The Central Virginian, WVIR-TV NBC29, and WCHV-107.5 FM Radio. In 2015 he received the Outstanding Recent Alumnus Award from the Virginia Tech College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Mr. Chiles humbly gives all of the credit of his success to God. “Scripture tells us to love God, to serve people, and to be the hands and feet of Christ,” he says.”I’ve turned my work into a ministry. The way I lead my team, treat our customers, and serve the community are all ways I try to show who Christ is to people. I take care of being faithful to God’s call. God takes care of the rest.” The company tagline, “Christ is our CEO” is found on all of his estimates, invoices, business cards, and website. “It doesn’t mean we are perfect, we are just led by someone who is, [Jesus]”
Mr. Chiles invests time not only in the growth of his company but in numerous community organizations. He is on the Board of Directors for Louisa County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Lake Anna Business Partnership and of the Adult Ministry Team for Louisa County Young Life. Chiles also serves on the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Council for Louisa County Public Schools and has been an integral part of bringing a CTE Coordinator to the county.
