Virginia Boat Shows
For those who grew up enjoying boating and watersports, owning a boat as an adult is as natural as baseball and apple pie. Being out on the water with a throttle in our hand and the sun hitting our face seems like the perfect way to end the day, finish off the week, or spend a family vacation. For those who did not experience the boating lifestyle early in life, all it takes is hearing a coworker on Monday morning talk about the three-pound catfish his six-year-old daughter caught. In either of these circumstances, boats and boat ownership makes it very easy to understand that, yes… Life Is Better With A Boat.
As one ventures into boat ownership, they will find that the marine industry today has gotten away from the “one size fits all” approach to its product lines. Boat shoppers now have to ask themselves, “What do I want to do more? Fish or wakeboard? Cruise or go fast?” There are so many options now offered to the boating consumer that just trying to understand them all can be exhausting. So, what do we do? We open the computer and start the search. It really can be overwhelming.
Enter…. local boat shows!
If you’ve ever attended a boat show, you definitely know the value of such an event. They are usually held during the time of year when boating and watersports activity has slowed. More importantly, the new models, colors, and designs are straight off the manufacturers’ floors. Seeing a tour online of the newest Nautique is really cool, but actually sitting in the boat, opening the hatches, and turning on the A/V system is indescribable. This is the time of year when marine dealers are just as excited about the product lines as the boating customers are to see them.
Boat shows also allow you to compare brands, see different color schemes, and compare prices to find that perfect boat for you, your family, and budget. Because there are so many choices available to the boating consumer now, the perfect boat for you may be completely different than the one you had in mind. Attending a local boat show will certainly prove to be the best asset you have in the process of buying your first, second, or tenth boat!
So whether you’re a lifelong boater or looking for that first boat ownership experience, be sure to ask yourself and your family the all-important question of, “What am I/we looking for in a boat?” Do your online homework, ask friends or family who are boat owners what they like about their particular brand, and then finish off the process by visiting one or more of the many boat shows in your area. CLIMB ABOARD… AND FIND YOUR FUN (and don’t forget to bring the entire family)!
